I plan on doing a few nights in that swim and a big bay a little bit upstream for the kings. I've seen truly massive carp in the Weaver. Absolutely colossal. They swam right along the margins while I was fishing for roach. My heart stopped. I dropped a handful of maggots on their nose and I'm sure they saw me. One flick of the tail, with no haste mind, and they were gone. It is one of the best sights I have ever seen while fishing.

Nice going with the Tincas, the venue wouldn't be one of the Flashes by any chance?

Nope. Miles down stream from there. Although they are very shallow too, as we found out on my friends boat once. That very nearly went very wrong. :Hide: :Chuckle:

I've been casting in a new way (for me). I pull line off the pin and let it dangle on the floor. I then flick it out under arm. Is there a name for this type of casting? It seems to work well with bombs, but less well with light floats. I still use loop casting with floats.
Lovely fish MD, I have never caught a river Tench as far as I can remember but I bet they fought like demons.. they do so in the lakes I fish. As regards the casting method, have a look on page 58 of Mr Crabtree goes fishing, he uses a coiled line on the floor method with a pin. Reedling, :Hat:
