Well, next time I have a bit of money I'll be on the look out for one then. I have a fondness for Sealeys. I need a new landing net too. Last time I went it ripped and I was having to bring the fish in to the bank, get down on my hands and knees and lift them out of the water. Okay for roach and ide, but I think I'd struggle with a carp!

Yes, a big pike may be tricky. Although I'd never dream of going after pike without a net. Teeth an treble hooks flying about all over the place. :Scared:

I've only ever landed the one pike by hand when I wondered too far from my net. Much safer for the fish and myself top use a net. Oops.

But returning the thread back to its topic, do you have any experience with a Sealey Heavy Ledger, MGs?

Hi MD, I have just aquired one of these. Only been out with it once so far, but very pleased. It handle a winter carp of about 7lbs with ease.
Unfortunately I haven't used many cane rods so I can't really compare it to anything, as far as how it feels.
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Many thanks for the info, LuckyLuca and I hope you land a monster on it this summer! Give it a real test. :Sun:

Is it a very heavy rod in terms of its physical weight? Would you be comfortable holding it for long periods, or does it belong on a set of rod rests?

I wouldn't describe it as heavy MD, but I don't have too much to compare it to.

Touche, LL. Indeed it is. I just wondered if it would be suitable for stalking also. I have a modern "carp waggler" which I use as a light ledger rod too. It's nice to have multi-purpose rods.
