For a long time I thought this was an early Hardy Conquest, the one without the 'wheel in the hole' drag. But I'm now convinced it is indeed the Richard Carter Dragonfly. There's bu**er all images of them around....I know, I've looked.


Here's a still though: ..same reel, same owner, but on a different rod....

I was lucky enough to fish the very same peg this Summer...my best day this season!

A team point to whomever can name the rod in that image above?

when new it cost £160 in 1997 ,now thats inflation !!

Ouch! expemsive reel, nice though.

Nobby nice Crucian pic, also like the net.

The fish wasn't from PR's Crucian ponds was it?

Dear Sir, I reckon it's a Carter Dragonfly.I be leave Chris was the man who designed these reels.There was a damselfly at 3.5inches and the Dragonfly 4.0inches I hope this might help you Best of luck,Reelmaker.

It was certainly made for CY and to his specifications which I suppose is the attraction now, I bought a Merlin back in 96 and thought the Dragonfly looked a little dull and boring by comparison to it and the beautiful Aerial Gem which I've regretted not buying since.
