In two pictures - what a bend on that rod - fantastic stuff - have no fear! But DEFINITELY SET THE CLUTCH or use a pin.

Welcome to the TFF :Thumb:

So much good advice, thank you chaps!
I’m sure that if I use it with a pin first I will get a better feel for its abilities.
Looking forward to putting a bend in it now, just need the weather...while I am waiting I will continue with my new book J W Martin, my fishing days and ways.

Mark if you bought the rod from Wal (Dr Cane) you’ve got yourself a belter of a rod, his restoration work is superb and his knowledge of rods unrivalled.

Sorry, I did not see this post earlier.
It is indeed from Wal although I did not know him as Dr Cane.
That only adds to the character of the rod to understand a bit about its history and who has previously cared for it.
It has been on my wish list for a while and very pleased to own it.
Now, I just need some good weather.......
Thanks for your post.

Wonderful fish BSC how you manage to land a fish like that whilst taking photos of the bend in the rod is just beyond me.

Normally all I manage to do whilst playing fish is knock over my tea and kick over my maggots

My best advice is to get your phone in your right hand whilst taking the best shot and in doing so kicking over a cup of tea and box of maggots .....

I take my stance entirely on luck my friend .. nothing else
