Lovely little collection there. Maybe you can give a couple away :chuckle:

I'm feeling a little old now. I sold at least 6 of those reels when they were new!

Fear not Shaun, they aren't exactly vintage in the true sense of the word. But they are lovely "older" reels that will be put to good use, maybe matched with some fibreglass rods.

As they aren't 'proper old' perhaps I should post this picture from a few weeks back. I make no apology for the Cardinal 55 (also not proper old although I have used it for over 33 years) being on a rod that is almost 35 years younger as I do mix my gear around a fair bit.

But alas it took on one battle too many and the spool exploded.

I was told the largest carp were possibly scraping 20lb - no-one said there were close on 30lb catfish though in the ancient estate lake. Fortunately I had just netted the reel destroyer seconds before the spool exploded.

I've done that twice with my Cardinals Shaun. I managed to source a couple of aluminium spools - even less 'traditional' (but safe from spool explosions!).

Nice to have you aboard Shaun, I used to get loads of stuff mail order off Walker of Trowell in the 90's. A good shop.

I have plenty more spools to keep it going. But to be fair it is the 3rd that has exploded on me now. Makes me a little nervous using them.
