I buy the HLS tubes and cut & carry short lengths of each then cut and "make to measure" for each float.

You can make them out of quill's.

I use a couple of drennan pellet bands in the “mini” size. Dirt cheap, soft, only slip on the hardest strike but this can be eliminated completely by a No8 or other suitable shot, just below the bottom of the float.
