Re: Stolen books
Sorry to hear this Luke, that is bad news, I think you can set up an alert with ebay for when certain things appear for sale which may help.
I hope the books turn up again in good condition and the thieves get their just deserts and their manhoods drop off.
Could be worth checking local car boot sales, my brothers hedgetrimmer, strimmer and mower appeared for sale at one less than a mile from where they were stolen!

You know the place well, Paul. If it was a local job then it will all come out sooner or later. Things like this just don't happen very often in this area and everyone knows everyone else's business around here. Though as it was a sunny bank holiday weekend and the place was packed with tourists it's difficult to say.

Re: Stolen books
Hello everyone, a quick update for this thread.
Having seen the cctv images the police quickly made a link to some likely suspects in the Worcester area. They were of course entirely uncooperative at first. However once they were made aware that the value of the books ran to around £40,000 and if caught they would be doing some serious time they soon saw the light. The guy in question drove the trailer, complete with most of the books, all the way from Worcester to our local police station in Aberystwyth overnight.
They are of course slightly damaged as it looks like they've been thrown about a bit but at least we got most of them back. God knows what the trailer was used for while they had it, the floor was covered in broken glass
Anyway, thanks to everyone on here for keeping your eyes and ears open. It is much appreciated.

I wish my personal collection was worth forty grand :hahaha:Tadpole wrote:Excellent news, that sounds like quite a book collection?
Just in case I caused any confusion with my initial post, these books belong to Coch Y Bonddu Books, the company I work for. This was the stock we had brought back from the Dutch Fly Fair and when it was stolen it was sitting in the trailer waiting to go to the British Fly Fair International the weekend after next. We always carry a good selection of the deluxe books with us at fairs like this as it's a prime time to let people have a look at them... even if we don't sell quite as many as we hope.
Glad to have it back anyway.
