Re: Double figure Barbel before breakfast anyone?
Probably a thread for the chapman rod section but I have to say to anyone who's interested the ledgerstrike has, is my go to rod at the moment. It is similar in length and taper to the 500 but somehow more powerful but with more sensitive tip. It has stand off rings so is good with float casting with light line and powerful enough to cast a 1.5 oz + lead. Long enough to cast and strike, short enough to rove and stalk. It feels strong enough to play a fish much larger than this barbell and also gives really good sport with a smaller fish.
The action is more progressive rather than through but that's where it gets its power from.
Just a really superb rod.

Good morning there Hexapin well done, if your saying it was 24" on the average Barbel chart, not including girth then its not going to be double, its around 5Ib 8oz to 6Ib.... I had one on the Severn that I`d swear was well over 10Ib it was 28.5 inches but was 9Ib 8oz.......

Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish

Not sure what happened to my original response to this? Weird. Anyway. I just measured the ledgerstrike from butt ring to approx point on handle and estimate the fish to be 31 inches. However, its academic as its my pb by a factor of 2.Merlot wrote:Good morning there Hexapin well done, if your saying it was 24" on the average Barbel chart, not including girth then its not going to be double, its around 5Ib 8oz to 6Ib....
