The author was of a class that allowed him to indulge in country activities ,many based in areas reasonably local to me , from an early age . l also discovered from t' internet that he also played football to a high standard. The book was published in 1913 . Sadly the author was killed in France in 1918 .The book covers a variety of country activities ,including several chapters on fishing and the frontspiece carries this rather prophetic dedication to the author's little son .
It seems that the young and aptly named Roddy , apart from growing -up to have an adventurous time in the USA and Canada , also found time to write several books on fishing himself.
As did his own son who is now a respected author on angling and conservation matters.
I think sorting through the other books in the box might be a long process
