Hope mine looks as good as that when it's made,i shall be using Bamboo with a fine piece of Ash as the filling in the sandwich, the former is marked out and the bamboo is down to thickness, just got to finish the spreader block and handle ferrule, hopefully once everything is in place then we can get started,

I sourced the ash strips and purchased a compressed wood strands board and then got to work.
I needed to source a brass spreader too. My skills do not stretch that far yet.....maybe one day. The other day Barney posted on the forum that he had some brass spreaders that he had made so I jumped at the chance and one was soon delivered. I loved it so much I have another on its way too.

So this is what I have done so far.

The board for the former

The rough shape reay to cut

Filed down with a rasp

Screwed into place

Holes cut for the clamps

A suitable length of Ash was selected

Sanded and smoothed

A steamer set up from plastic pipe, holes drilled to let out the steam

Steamed for 20 minutes and then surprisingly easily bent around the former and clamped

I think you may be waiting a long time for an answer Terry, probably better to contact Old Man River through the pm setting of the forum, he makes beautiful ash framed nets…. :Hat:
