You can view it if you subscribe to Harper's magazine http://harpers.org/archive/1953/07/0006426
as it was published in that magazine in 1952 but I'm not a subscriber and I doubt it'll shed much light anyway.
I dont think this is the same Swancoote Pool's Snape as David Thompson Watson McCord was an American Poet. That's unless I have the wrong David.

Ah yes, I suspect you are right. :(

A new search for Swancoote revealed this photo in Andy Batchelor's photobucket album. Andy is a float maker (http://www.handmadefloats.co.uk. I have a few and they are lovely floats.
Anyway the photo is here http://s841.photobucket.com/albums/zz34 ... 1636-1.jpg
Looks awesome!

Well found Snape! I actually uploaded the image to photobucket to eventually post on this forum. It is BB's Swancoote pool, the photo is taken from the dam wall, virtually the same place as his scraperboard drawing p.315 from his Fisherman's bedside book.

I'm new to this site and just in the process of getting to know what's going on.
But with regard to Swancoote Pool if anybody is still unaware of its location you need to read page 82 of Kev Clifford's book 'A History of Carp Fishing Revisited' and all will be revealed!

Thank you Andy, the answer has been sitting on my bookshelf all this time. :Hat:

:fish: Bumping this, albeit 8 years later, but I am intrigued as I'm not far from Warwickshire myself (north Oxfordshire).

(I can offer the location of the Monster Myths lake from a passion for angling by way of a location trade ...... :Chuckle:
