Pezon et Michel "Redoubtable" cane pole

Post by Coral Maestro »

While wandering around a vide grenier in the Dordogne yesterday I spotted a cane pole poking out of a bin full of more modern rods. It was reasonably straight and complete but had the usual wonky tip section that seems to be an essential feature of french cane poles. I bought it for less than the price of a cup of coffee so was a happy chappy. Gudgeon beware!
Closer inspection at home revealed that it had a label reading "Redoubtable" and a bit of research on the internet indicated that it was made by Pezon et Michel (there are other cane rods and poles with the "Redoubtable" label and also Pezon et Michel on the same label). I've attached a couple of screen shots to illustrate this. I'm not sure how old the pole is but the "Redoubtable" range doesn't feature in the 1960 Pezon et Michel catalogue.

What do they know of fishing who know only one fish and one way to fish for him?
