A bit of a fill-in video today, sound only, an interview (edited) with Phil Coles of Leicester (he was the youngest ever winner of the National back in 1972 on the Bristol Avon when he was aged 18) that I did back in 2015. The sound quality isn't fantastic and I've edited out most of my own contributions. Stick with it for some gems from Phil's youth as he grew up as an angling apprentice of angling legend, Ivan Marks:

Here's Part 16 about a day when there was a heavy frost despite it only being October and I drew the shallowest swim on the match:

Here's Part 17 about a follow-up winter league to the one described in Part 16 about 5 weeks later:

Back in 1992 Team Castle needed a great result on the Somerset Brue to win the winter league and with five of the top six places looked on course to do that but on an eventful day it wasn't to be:

That must have been so frustrating Mark! But very interesting. Can't wait for the next one. Thank you.

One of the of the reels I used in the past was an ABU 505. Here's my thoughts on this and other closed-face reels for trotting:

Knowing what's going on around you can be vital to match fishing success. The poor angler downstream of me had no idea!
