Re: Stick Float Wizardry by Jim Baxter - Book Launch
A great book without a doubt. It tracks the careers of so many superb anglers over the last sixty years; it records their triumphs and their methods. They may all be match anglers, but everything they share is of real value to river coarse fishers. The two Jim Baxter books, one highlighting the waggler, the other featuring the stick are essential reading for anyone that wants to get better on the river!!
Trouble is, the fish just don't read the books......

Thanks Mark, a quick search online had confirmed that. I bought The Rising Antenna a while ago but have not got round to reading it

Looking forward to watching Mark’s video but meanwhile my copy arrived today. What an absolutely fabulous book! If you’re not a trotting/stick float angler you’ll thoroughly enjoy the tales and nostalgia. If you are a river angler not only will you enjoy the tales but you’ll learn loads as well. Fantastic book.

Alistair I also chose to read Mark Wintle chapter first, as I have used the Avon float all my life, I still rate them highly, even though I use a mixture of floats, depending on the conditions and venue. Yes, the name Avon has been the popular name for the float, after Billy published the name widely, (I can recommend his books) Similar floats were used much earlier in time, I have one made by my grandfather which I was given just after WW2 it’s still in use.
