Match aerail line guard

Just acquired a allcocks match aerial with a line guard,it looks too well made to be home made job,did they come as a additional extra spec?

Not as far as anyone is aware, but the late John Wilson claimed to have braised up his own and from the images in his book of it, it was very fine indeed.

Any chance of a picture of the line guard?
If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.
