B James & Son Rod bag

Post by David »

Hi. I know there are people who perhaps try to make a rod look like an original when it's not, but I have 6 B James & Son rods all in their original bags with labels attached. However, one of the labels is very worn. I would like to get another bag label and put on the bag along beside the worn label but not replace it. This is not a decal for the rod as I would not do that but just the cloth label on the bag, Does anyone know if it is possible to get a replacement cloth label Thanks

Original rod bag labels very rarely come up for sale. The only ones I used to see regularly were Sharpes of Aberdeen.

Your best best might be to find a better condition complete James rod bag either to use in place of the original or to remove the label from.

Excellent – sorry I couldn't be of any more help. I bought a few of the Sharpes labels when they were available to have a couple of replica bags made that my rods go out fishing in. I have a couple of other good ones but I'm hanging onto those incase I need them for future projects – not B. James I hasten to add!

I think the vendor must have been in the right place at the right time to grab a good stock of them. For a good long while a few of the Sharpes decals were also available but age had made them very, very fragile.

I know it would not be original but a good seamstress could probably make you one.Find your local haberdashers,I am sure they will know of someone.

I don't think the bag is the problem it's sourcing the embroidered labels.
