The "Arrow" fishing reel by Martin Moritz

The reel comes from East Germany and was offered between 1954 and 1958. There were different versions and they cost 33.50 East German marks.
The special thing about the reel is the line laying, which is ensured by moving the line bracket up and down.

Looks a bit like harrington's The Omnia.


The Model 1 in the different variants did not prevail either. From 1958 came the 1.3 model, which looked like a normal reel. Then came the 1.4 model with an external spool in 1962.

That light green hammered paint finish is quite common in East German reels maybe. I had an Eswede Delphin (EMTE/Martin Treppenhauer), also East German, that had the same paint scheme. Possibly a connection between these and the EMTEs.

No, there was no connection. Martin Moritz had his company in Karl-Marx-Stadt and Martin Treppenhauer in Dresden.

Yes, there was a hammer blow in green a few times in East Germany, here are a few examples.

But this color scheme also existed in other European countries, so it cannot only be related to East Germany.

Also Morritt's Intrepid Continental which was trying hard to look continental of course. Many Czech made Tokoz reels had it too.

"Hammerite"? Looks a bit paler than their current offerings, mind.
