Abshot Fatty.
Matron had gone to Hairy Pooter World with her Sister and Nephew. They in turn terrorised the other visitors and workers. However, the upshot of this travel was that Fatty was left at home to his own devices. Once the daily chores were completed to Waffen Standards by 1130 hrs Abshot was the destination of choice.
Arriving just before midday rods of choice were a twenty foot Bolognese glass rod of some vintage and a Ryan Burns Harvey Torbut. Reels were the eccentric Contact 400 and a mini Dam 110.
Waggler and pole float were set up. Bait of choice was 6mm pellet.
Tench after tench liked the Bolognese, Contact 400 and pole float. Some were bigger than the usual run around the 4lb Mark:
15 took the plunge and visited Fatty, who was scoffing a Steak Pie and slurping tea. The two other anglers packed as they were not catching owt and kept looking over at the antics Inthe corner before scuttling off with their tails between their legs.
More anglers arrived just in time to see a fat grinning loon start on the roach. Some were worth weighing with the biggest an unexpected 2lb 2oz.
Is this a pond record?
Some would say it's not the real McCoy blah, blah , blah. Well they all looked like roach to me...so good enough.
Very happy but had to be away by 1530hrs to get back and walk the dogs.
If the roach weren't enough on the walk saw the first gang of Swift's, quartering the sky. Does this day get any better....yes it does as Matron won't be back 'til late!
Time to get in a few celebratory beers then.
As ever,.....

Absolutely brilliant Moley - a 2lb 2oz Roach - a fish of dreams. Celebratory beers - you deserve a crate of beers for a catch like that.

Re: Abshot Fatty.
Lovely fish, the Roach in particular.
It is good that some waters still exist that haven't been spoilt by the stocking (and overstocking) of Carp, Ide and in some cases sturgeon and Catfish.
Good luck for your fishing in the future.
