Deep hooked chub. Unusual experience.

I have been catch small Perch by throwing in a few maggots followed by reeling my float over the same area. It works 2 or 3 times then they wise up.

They are close enough to the surface for me to watch them, they follow the maggot down but stop when they reach the one on the hook, I wonder if some of the Chub have learned about hooks in the same way.
