Work now scaled back..

Post by Watermole+ »

This has been the largest and most challenging to make so far..something a bit different anyway!

A special 4 1/2" reel with a wide drum for those much heavier fish incorporating an optional, automatic check and line drum brake.
The 'scales' are all individually cut out pieces of striated oak (230 of them), set into a single piece of Turkish walnut.

For some reason, the pictures are not as good as I would have liked, but will give you some idea. Click on them to see clearer.

Simply wonderful. One reel closer to mine.

My word! what a piece of engineering perfection.
I have a spare kidney if interested in a swap-in hind sight, probably not a good idea as mine rattle with the amount of stones in there!

Peerless Sir, and then some.

I try very hard not to be a man with envy, but I am only human (unlike you it seems!).

Thank you for sharing.

Astonishing!
Every time I think you've made the most beautiful reel I'll ever see, you raise the bar once more!
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Arise Sir Watermole.
If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.
