Bait thieves
There's a lot of uncertainty in our world at the moment. So when the price of maggots shot up to £2.50 recently it focussed the mind on getting full value out of every wriggler. Imagine my consternation when, in front of my very own eyes, bait is stolen and devoured in broad daylight.
First this bird looks one way,
and then another.
I tell him he's not having any; it's just too expensive for an old pensioner....
But birdy isn't interested and decides to take a more confrontational approach.
What could I do?

Trouble is, the fish just don't read the books......

Re: Bait thieves
Thats lovely, I always make sure the birds get a handful of maggots when I am using them, I have managed to get those Cheeky Robins up close, but never actually sat on my knee.

Re: Bait thieves
Utterly superb shots
Small birds round my place seem to be more and more rare anybody else?
The Robin comes out when you do the garden, turn the earth etc, but sparrows and other small
tits are rarely seen, and the garden especially, is infested with Magpies and Pigeons.
Not good

What lovely photographs Sir, thank you, really made me smile...unlike the price your paying for maggots, £3.50 a pint round my way!

Re: Bait thieves
Don't you just love a Robin, they brighten up even the dullest day and their little melancholy calls can be heard right through the winter. Whenever I dig or rake the garden you can guarantee that one is watching your every move and ready to pounce on any morsel that moves. I have a stuffed one in a dome, a road casualty but I cannot seem to put it on display without feeling a little sad. I can see you were over the moon with that little friend to share your day and swim with. smashing
