Bernard Venables Good Gardening 1938
Just thought I would share this picture from the cover of a gardening magazine of 1938. Beautifully illustrated by the man himself. Just perfect for a winters day.
If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.

Yes but that is just a detail Kevin, and anyway maybe they were genetically modified in 1938? Fact is that BV is an absolutely magnificent artist - he captivated me at 7 years of age and never let go......
Trouble is, the fish just don't read the books......
