Yesterday 1400-1530hrs
To use up some casters Fatty went down to the local Bassie. Running a small float along the concrete bankside, in the afternoon sun, one of these decided to visit:
.......and one of these:
Didn't think they fed much in winter; it was a warm day I suppose?
Packed up in time for the footie results and to watch England in the Six Nations
Followed up by sausage, mash and onions......bliss.
Does it get any better than this?
As ever,........

Re: Concrete Perch
It is a very nice Perch.
The Bassie is the local name for the Basingstoke Canal, Jardine; not the easiest of waters as it goes very clear at this time of year, with the fish being very localised. It pays to be mobile to locate the fish
Not bad at all Duebel......the type of day I live for now

Re: Concrete Perch
What, no marrowfat peas with the sausage, mash and onions, unforgivable.
I suppose that perch makes up for it.

Well done Moley, haven't fished the Basingstoke for years! I've a funny feeling you only live a few miles from me (knaphill- west end) I also feel we've met but can't think for the life of me when or where? Fine perch by the way

Re: Concrete Perch
Didn't weigh it Dave, as the scales were back home.....I forgot them( an age thing nowadays) but it was measured at 12inches, so can only guess at probably over the pound
Sorry about that Macko but did have curried beans instead with the sausage and mash.....yummy
Have you ever match fished or worked for the Post Office Paul? I am short, fat and scruffy usually seen whilst fishing with a pork pie
Either that or you may have witnessed me being barred from yet another pub in the area?

Well done Moley.
Couple of years since I fished the Basingstoke Canal but you've whetted my appetite for a visit.
