Godfreys, Moulsham Street, Chelmsford. Bought my first Mitchell 300 from there. I worked and saved hard for that.

Sadly I can't remember that one but do you remember Romford Angling Centre on North Street? I worked there in about 1980 and we had Edko Sports just a bit further down the road.

I could describe the inside of that shop to you as if we were standing inside it. Funny how you can remember these things from a long time ago yet I can't properly recall what I did yesterday! Do you have a reel bag with their details on Roachtench (I do!) or was that memorised?Roachtench wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2017 5:52 pm Eddo Sports Services Ltd was at 136 North Street, Romford, telephone number 7061181
I specifically remember going in and waggling a Shakespeare Match International travel rod, brown with white finish to the whippings! Didn't buy it though...

Re: Essex Tackle shop
There have been a few tackle shops in Romford over the years, one in North St recently closed... it was run by Poles and had nothing but lure rods and predator gear... it didn't last long...
I remember the Romford Angling Center... I bought my bait there in my proper Match fishing days of the Essex Club League... always got a cuppa in there... I bought my Browning luggage kit and Browning Feeder and Waggler Rods from them.... sad to see the shop go....
Another was B&T Angling just off Straight Road, behind MacDonalds... I was sponsored by those guys... then one day they upped and did a moonlight flit taking my cash for a Garbolino top two with them (B*st*rds) they left a lot of unhappy folk
Then there was Specialist Tackle... they were mainly for Carp Cats and Barbel.... the whole place reeked of fags.... and very 'cliquey' I only went in there on the odd occasion...
Now of course 'Specialist Tackle' is now called Keswalls.. I used to work for Ray Wallace in the 70's as a Saturday lad... when he moved shop down to Woodford green I lugged loads of gear down the road by hand... I was paid in tackle.... that's where I got my Sealey Blue Max from... I even took his Daughter, Karen out on a couple of dates.... Oh.... happy Daze

Just one more cast love, and I'll be on me way home
