Re: An Eight Pound Chub
cracking fish! congratulations!
Re: An Eight Pound Chub
I've now fished the lea valley for28 years,
I've actually seen 4 different 8lb chub on the bank ,
In the years I've fished the lea I've had 102 x 6lb+ chub and 4 x 7lber's 7.1, 7.2, 7.4 and 7.6 respectively
But am still waiting for an 8lber,
Very very frustrating especially when you've see em in yer swim gliding through like battle ships,
I personally think that any chub of over 8lb is a fish of a life time and for many a 7lber are also very special,
Once again a very big congrats to you Mike, well done fella

Gents
A number of questions and comments have been made which are best answered in a short article. Bear with me, I'm a poor writer and I'm after a nine tomorrow…[and that not a joke]...!!!! But [as Mark already knows] I think you will be surprised.
All the best if your out over the next few days

Both the Lea and Thames have done 9lbers. An 8lb 10oz out the Stour very recently.
Best of luck Mike - dedication is needed!
Terry Lampard never caught the monster he saw and pursued in the Stour near Wimborne.

Way to go Mike, a 9lber aye, that almost certainly sounds like kings weir fishery, kings weir LAA or fishers green consortium on the Lea at a very good guessMike Wilson wrote:Gents

Never fished it T M as I don't like to move in on others [known] fish. Your name is the clue !!
I have seen a very big chub well over the record upstream of a famous bridge but can't fish it [at present]. I saw it in gin clear water about a foot below the surface, thought it was a small common at first above heavy weed. Suggest a low /mid 10. Never had a chance to discuss it with Terry. It dwarfed my 7.10
