Bought this drawing/impression some years ago, the artist is George Becher RA 1875-1947 his work included sketches for Punch and Tatler. The 'traditionaly' dressed gentleman is Sir Arthur Denison Ross 1871-1940 who is described as an 'Orientalist'
It seems that Arthur was an angler and chose to be drawn like this, perhaps given his status a member of the Fly Fishers Club, he looks a well fed and content chap !
Tight lines

Of course I do. I also dress like that when I go down the pub, do the weekend shop etc etc. Indeed, I have been known to go to bed dressed like that.

I suspect it could be “love”, despite its drawbacks in the rhyming department.

I always admired this photo of Harvey Torbett :-

(but in a moment's seriousness ... whatever I wear it will always include the hand woven wool tie of Northumbrian Tartan ... my lucky mascot since the day I wore it when wedding The Inestimable Mrs. AC.)
