Yes, he enjoyed the hospitality in his trendy denim. I felt a little overdressed crouched at the side of him in a tie.

Re: Bernard Venables
Its impossible to quantify the effect his writings and illustrations had on the world of fishing, a true legend without a hint of ego. My glass shall indeed be raised

I shall fish out that bottle of Malt I received for Christmas. Fishing for Roach with Mr Cherry and Jim still provides inspiration and a warm glow. BV epitomises all that's fine about fishing and self-effacing Englishness.

In celebration of BV I have just ordered a Crabtree style net from Mr Gudgeon Jim and will also have a few ports tonight
Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish

A great angler and writer
There is no peace on earth like the peace of fishing in the early mornings
Re: Bernard Venables
Not having known of Mr. Venabels prior to the TFF there is still so much of his work to read and learn from, He carried the flame of this pastime we all enjoy and continues to spread it's light and inspire others.
A glass will be raised in his honor this evening
