Is this a true crucian
My first fish today was a lovely crucian of about a pound and half in weight.
Is it a true crucian though, I am a bit dubious as to its very long tail.
It put up a good little scrap and made my morning.
The same fish on the mat, it looks smaller in this picture.

Re: Is this a true crucian
it's a hybrid I'm afraid Mark, probably bred with an ornamental goldfish.
God never did make a more calm, quiet, innocent recreation than angling.

Hi Mark, with those fins it looks like its crossed with a Shubunkin, what a cracking fish mate.

The body looks right, but all the fins look all wrong (for a tru cru). It's still a really pretty fish. Personally I don't care when I catch hybrids.
I think Kingfisher is right. Looks like a fantail goldfish.

Yep. crucian - fancy goldfish hybrid.

Very nice fish Mark
However the excessively large tail and pectoral fins are definitely not from a crucian

A goldcian
Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish
