Looks very good, hadn't thought of using gaffer tape.

Nicely done Phil!
Simple ideas are the best ideas.

Really wonder what these sheets are originally thought for?
In any case I think they do serve best the way they do now! Well done Phil

I have used cork tiles or sheets to make 1 cork arbour - then another to fit over that - then another, etc until I thought it was high enough.
I then used Gorilla tape - but the tape must go slightly up the 2 sides to prevent any line getting under the cork arbours.

Blimey, I wish I had spotted your post Tengisgol before I made my attempt (just spotted the link on the discussion of sheet cork):

I was very careful to cut and fix the cork so it matched the width of the spool precisely but your comment above is correct: to stop line slipping down the sides, the cork needs to overlap the edge, d'oh! I soon realised this and resolved the issue with a layer of insulation tape on top of the cork. It works but your solution is a lot neater and simpler. I shall follow your technique next time I change the line on my Grance & Young.

Hi , I have just found this thread , and would like to do the same for my Seldex's. However , can you clarify if you wound the cork and tape onto the spool in one long piece please ? Or did you do it in stages ? If it was would on in its entire length did you get a "lump" where the first piece met the spool ?
Cheers

I did it in one long piece and there was no noticeable lump really and certainly not once the first couple of layers of line went on. Good luck!
