Why is the Royalty Fishery on the Hampshire Avon so called?

I was reading an article about the Royalty fishery on the Hampshire Avon when it occurred to me that I didn't know how it got it's name. A bit of research on the 'net and I came across the following article (shame about the font!):

The Royalty is a is a lovely stretch of River.
Years ago I caught a fine Barbel from the railway swim, I dont know it's true weight as I only had a 7lb spring balance with me at the time and this bottomed out with a bang .
I also remember that the chef, Marco pierre white , accompanied by a camera man was fishing the river on the same day.
