Harveys of Coventry

Post by Woodytia »

A recently acquired Sealey Floatcaster Deluxe bears a transfer for Harveys of Coventry, as well as the name of the shop, the transfer appears to show the three spires of Coventry. Has anyone on the forum has ever heard of this tackle shop? I assume it is no longer in existence as is the case with so many small tackle shops but I thought I'd ask anyway in case the business still trades under another name. Any information would be welcome as my Dad was born in Coventry and started his fishing as a youngster in the area it could of been a shop he bought tackle and bait from.

Sadly closed now. But was located near to Broadgate in the city centre he also sold sports and modelling equipment.
Perhaps your dad may have fished Swanswell Pool near to the centre - a popular venue that held a few good fish and offered great Roach fishing.

Thanks for that, he may well of done so, I'm sure he would of known the shop too as he lived not far away in the area Far Gosford Steet.
