I must confess I bought one of the £15 Trent trotters and some discounted floats .
The rod is very visually appealing and has a nice action . It is somewhat heavy compared to the glass rods I'm used to and escpecially in the tip . However it may balance with the right reel . Failing that it will make a nice decoration .
The floats are ok and expendable for tricky river situations .

Why buy a cheap copy when you can buy an original Bruce & Walker Trotter that will hold the price and its not a true copy with wrong rings and tapers.Cheap will always be cheap Quality sells

I get that approach 100% (right from the day that my father chose a secondhand Abu Mkvi over a cheap new alternative as my first 'proper' fishing rod). However, there is a counter-argument that sometimes it is nice to have something new, especially as a gift.

Also, "Cheap" tends to get used and have risks taken, some of which pay off; "Museum pieces" tend to stay in museums.

Well, she certainly enjoys catching with her Avon version. I am sure she will find the Trotter equally useful. The Avon is more like a light carp rod and I guess the Float rod will be stiffer too. For £15 it will do the job and be an excellent 'starter' rod.
