Ferrule stoppers

Post by Duebel »

I took out the pole lathe today. It's not really the best tool for precision work, but the ferrule stoppers for my heavy duty project rod turned out ok.

I love your pole lathe Martin! Not easy to use I imagine?
Pole lathes were used in the beech woods in Buckinhamshire to turn chair legs and spindles for Windsor chairs. The artisans were called "bodgers" but were highly skilled craftsman. The term "bodger" is used in the wrong context today I feel?

Very nice Duebel; really adds that touch of class to the rod; helps finish.

That's interesting, Jeremy. I'm definitely a bodger (in the modern sense) on the pole lathe. It's not too difficult to use, but requires a bit of practice of course.

Lovely job! I know how difficult it is to make them on a normal lathe so using a pole lathe must require a good deal of skill and patience.
What do they know of fishing who know only one fish and one way to fish for him?
