What Can You Do With a £ 1 Box ?

Post by Barbulus »

Well, with the enforced "lock down" and routing around the boot of the car, you might come across a random wooden box bought for £1 from the local Craft Shop a few months ago .... "that'll be useful one day" type purchase. A £ 1. I mean what can you get for a £ 1 except another £ 1 ....

So, a sunny Spring day, a few hours to spare, a few coats of stain and a few of varnish, add a piece of spare VW Van carpet left from the last DIY job, then a few foam pieces and a well known portrait figure .... oh ... and add some stunning hand drawn Pike Floats from Sussex Micky and the result is ....

Great idea. And with relatively little effort you have made a very nice float box. :Thumb:

Excellent. Absolutely spot on. :Hat:

As planned the box gives a book like element to viewing the superb floats. A bit like the”window to the soul” idea. They complement each other perfectly.

Superb idea. A quid would just about buy you a box of matches today.....or are we still allowed to use matches under elf n safety?

I had a spare hour today so made a slight addition to my £ 1 "Box". I added a piece of foam packaging cut to size for the "inside" part of the box and then glued some cut to size VW Van interior stretch carpet to the cut and fitted packaging. The result is that when closed in the "Box", the four Mr Crabtree/Cherry" floats now do not move; safely and gently restrained in their "Box" ....

Good question David. Start on the left and then as the Seasons go by and the inevitable loss and damage and clumsy fishing techniques reduces the "4" to something less .... my background is have a back up then - a back up then - another back up and then - when it all looks like its last man standing ... a final "hurrah" !
