A few extending rod rests..
Recently I have had a few hours spare, and also needed to think of a way of making a tiny bit more room in the shrinking workshop,I had some "bits " of rods that would probably never find a use, and also some lengths of fibreglass Landing Net arms, I had bought them to use the nets on Crabtree type landing nets, but could not bring myself to throw the arms away ( in fact I still have a few more lurking in corners )
Anyway, after reading a post on here , with a couple of rather nice extending rod rests featured I decided to put one together myself, one turned to two ,two turned eventually to four, one of them is for another forum member.
All are made from odds and sods, bits of brassware that all came from my plumbing "store" or elsewhere, the two "chunky " ones look rather agricultutal, but are made that way as they are for my Barbel setup, the tops are made of mahogany and inturned at the top of the "V " to hopefully stop any rod shooting off when a feisty Barbel wraps the tip around. The other "tops" are made from a v shaped branch fork, and the longest one is made from a defunct wooden spoon, which gives rather an attractive shape when adapted a little.
The spikes are again made from some old alloy net arms that were lurking in hidden corners, pegged and resined in place , so all in all the only cost involved was time, and a few penceworth of whipping silk and Yacht Varnish.
Now I have a tiny bit more room in the workshop and a bit less room in the rod cupboard.

Nothing more satisfying than making something out of nothing.
There are three things that improve with age: wine, friendship and water sense, and there's no short cut.

Good looking sticks those - really like the minimal V shaped head.

Very good indeed, redundant parts now have a purpose, excellent job!
