Uncanny baits: the "corn stalk grub"...

The "corn stalk grub"...

I used to live in a rural area, with access aplenty to whole corn stalks over winter. So, when snow came and frost stilled most of my garden and the river banks, then came the time for me to search the corn stalks for these little grubs.

This was a deliberate act; not only in contrast to the ever expanding commerce with "ready made" baits, but also another small step in my journey back to angling simply. And it worked quite good. Unexpectedly, at first. And knowingly, later. I no longer have (easy) access to these chub enticing rustic (now exotic?) treats, but maybe someone, somewhere can happily make use of this uncanny bait. (Pun intended.)

A good day to all,
