Is this a Chub?

Post by Dappie »

Dear members,

I'am new at angling on streaming water. Now I caught a fish on the river IJssel (Holland)
I don't know for sure which spieces this is. Can anyone tell me, is this a Chub or a Ide?

With kind regards,

Dappie

I don't think so!! The mouth looks too small. Might be an ideal!!

Looks like a bream/chub
Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish

Almost certainly an ide.

You need to be wary of them in March. :Scared:

An Ide - no question.

Mistaken in the UK for roach, rudd hybrid, bream hybrid, chub, etc. In the UK all Ide have been stocked at some time - an alien species - like others that Natural England/DEFRA wish to eradicate!

Here is an Ide (Orfe) I caught on my local river. They shouldn't be in there so was quite a surprise. I had to stop to think what it was at the time.

Hi Dappie Looks like an Ide to me,me and a few friends are off to Zwolle for our yearly trip soon and the Ijssel is an awesome river but very moody, its on song like any other river with Colour in so asking you if there is some! Last year we fished on the river near Zalk lake and crystal clear water and snow water comming down from the mountains further up knocked it for six.Have had some wonderful days trotting with the pin in the deep swirly water you never know what the next fish is going to be with its vast assortment of species , and some of my homemade floats up for the task would be a bit out of place in blighty!.The nearby River Veche is also a fine river to fish especially for Ide especially with some push on
