Ode to roach

Post by Ian »

Small fry,red eye,steely blue flank
Coming together in numbers abounding
Comrades in nature,file and rank
Nothing to fear, but the constant hounding

Glinting and flashing,gathering neighbours
Dancing green ribbons hide those that are sought
Only morsels paid for the labours
They watch the shadows, not wanting a lot

Whirling currents blend into one
A meal drifts by all dressed in white
Wary forever under the sun
Bread looks tasty but,for a bite

Many fall while few will thrive
And grow and grow and grow
Still,rewarded for staying alive
The seeds of life, that few will sow

Beating hearts,another chance
A space that’s filled with all that’s keen
A toothy void,a second glance
The Haunting myth thats seldom seen
Don’t cast doubt,cast out.

Yay! No couplets!
Nice work, especially the dark hint of Esox at the end.

Hemingway didn't have to worry about accidentally hitting "submit" before he edited.
