Creel Perch...
From July 1964, I think this is delightful....

Totally agree SK. I'd have been 7 years old at the time and a picture like that would have made my eyes pop out on stalks. I had to make do with my Brooke Bond Freshwater fishes album.

So much better than some idiot holding the latest must have item of tackle or bait at arms length to the camera lens - pure quality.

I love the hues and grittyness of older photos like this. Proper fish, too!

Yes a cracking pic, you can see where Zander get the 'pike/perch' name, this one at a quick glance has the 'zander look' quite long and lean.

A lovely front cover indeed.

Where’s all the big bold headlines saying: 'How To Catch A PB without even trying!' Or 'Barbel Boilie Bonanza!' Or 'Try our Carlos Fandango Wonder-rig To Nail Those Lumps!' Or 'Win a Million Kilos of Codpiece Carp Pellets!' I dunno, call that a magazine??!!!
Seriously though, a wonderful picture and cover.

the picture speaks a thousand words.
Not a fish was visible that first time I visited Beechmere; an utter
stillness brooded over the place and I felt the strange and sinister atmosphere which, so the story goes,
has been the cause of several suicides.’
