John Essex's new book

Post by DaceAce »

After a very long wait - first mooted circa 2006 - John Essex's huge book on the National Angling Championships is finally available from Medlar. It runs to over 400 pages. I got my copy on Thursday and have yet to read it cover to cover, just delving here and there at present, but finding it fascinating. I helped John a little with the research and cop the odd mention. It was worth the wait.

Got my copy on Thursday along with Andrew Herd's history of the Flyfisher's Club, another huge book.
Very different branches of angling but on a quick inspection Medlar Press have produced two very fine books on the history of our sport.
Looking forward to reading both.

John told me yesterday that the book is being reprinted so if you want one of the 300 first edition copies get on to Medlar fast!

I'm about a hundred pages in so far and it is fascinating.
A monumental effort from the author compiling all that information. Some great stories and photo's.
