I did the same Pete, both cracking books, both very different in style.
I felt a paricular affinity with LMF, being a Wealden man I could identify strongly with many if not all of the places mentioned within along with the times in which the book refered.

I've struggled with some of Dexter Petley's writing in the past but found this book a lot more readable. I'll have to revisit some of those articles.

A very interesting read, more a life story with angling running through, quite a character is Dexter, fascinating. BBC Radio 4 has recently broadcast a piece on Carp featuring Dexter, worth a listen available on I Player.

Thanks for that Mushy, just had a listen and found it most enjoyable. Don't think I could quite go to the extremity of Dexters living arrangements but I try to be in tune with nature and the environment as one could ....I don't think the ghillie would be too impressed with me only bathing a couple of times a year!
