Re: A 1960's ROD REST
I made one of those in metalwork at school, a copy of my mates EFGEECO one. only mine had rubber bunson burner tube fitted to protect the rod. Acquired from the chemistry lab. circa 1972-73
Not a fish was visible that first time I visited Beechmere; an utter
stillness brooded over the place and I felt the strange and sinister atmosphere which, so the story goes,
has been the cause of several suicides.’

The Allcocks one - Ref P302 was also in the '66 and '67 catalogues at 7/10.5d plus P-tax at 1/7d
I differs from the Hardy as it seems not to be two Vs to hold the rod.

Re: A 1960's ROD REST
I seem to remember seeing one when I was a boy.
I have definitely seen something very similar if not identical, in the past.
On the subject of "bankside credibility" - dont worry about that sort of thing, just do your own thing man.

Re: A 1960's ROD REST
I remember having one of those as a youngster, pretty hopeless as I remember as it swivels around.
As an aside, I seem to remember using two rod rests, fore and aft, being pretty radical.
