Efgeeco rod rests

Post by Michael »

Yep, two small Efgeeco rod rests, not really much to look at. These were passed to me by my elderly Mother, who found them in an old rod bag, which had fallen between the rafters, in her loft, in her bungalow.
They were last used by my late Father around 1973 -1974. I gave them a quick clean up & polish and they'll be back on the bank asap..

What a great find - and a good cleaning job - and fitting you should use some family history - they are becoming more and more difficult to find.

What a lovely find Michael! It will be great to re-use something of your Dad's, they are classic item's! :Ok:

Now you will have to put a complete early 70's kit together. Efgeeco canvas seat box, CTM rod, Mitchell reel etc etc!

I've had one for years that has the head of the one on the left, but made of aluminium. I think it's an unspoken rule that you never buy a rod rest; somehow you just accumulate them as the years go by.

I recall those from the early 1970s when I started fishing. My recollection is that they had a nasty habit of rusting from the inside out. I haven’t had one since but I’d be interested to know if my recollection is correct and if this presents a problem for restoration?
