Walking the dog is very fruitful

Post by TrentFisher »

Evening Gents

I thought I would post this in this section as it has some relevance....

As I wondered of the beaten track round the more wooded areas at my local country park ,in walking distance from home ...very handy.

I first spied some suitable dead sticks of elder containing some nice pith for float making during the winter.
A little further on my walk where they had coppiced some hazel I made a mental note of three-four very nice rod rests....I will be back once the leaves have gone.

Very Fruitful indeed.

Nige.

Yes, I’ve also found myself thinking about float making this weekend and had a good tidy up of the workbench in readiness.

I have ‘skinned’ some elder sticks and so the process has begun. Looking forward to the Xmas float swap this year as I should be in a good state of readiness for a change.

Looking for suitable elder pith, picking up some crow quills, spotting some chub from the bridge - I don't know what my dogs think I'm doing, but they seem to enjoy being a part of my angling life.
I love my elder pith floats and I'm looking forward to make a few for the Secret Santa float swap.

Use the forum search and look for "Secret Santa float swap"

I'm sure, there will be a float swap this year as well. If you make floats, you should absolutely take part. It's one of the most beautiful things our beloved TFF has to offer!
