Does anyone know who built this cane pole - ADS?

Post by Coral Maestro »

I collected this pole recently and have been unable to track down who would have manufactured it. The makers logo initials look like a combination of ADS or ASD but I can't think who this would be. It's built in the London roach pole style with a typical pattern of whippings associated with those poles and a brass cap which unfortunately isn't engraved. The ferrules for the thicker sections are well made with an inner and outer brass tube (a "brazed joint").

It looks a good quality pole with the brazed joints. I wonder if the ADS is a former owners initials.

Have to agree - looks a nice job.

Well,if initials were for previous owner - you could always say it belonged to:
Arnold Schwarzenegger;
Ayrton Senna;
Alan Shearer;
Alvin Stardust - although their middle initial isn't a "D"

Searching on "ADS" - yields less names and nothing that strikes me as a fisherman.

Lots of interesting suggestions! Any other (plausible) ideas?
