I am thinking of adding to my grice and young collection as I saw a nice jecta mk3at Romsey on sunday.i was wondering if anybody uses this reel for trotting,it looked like it has a wider spool than my avon royal any info please.

This seems to be the same as the "Big Piker" . Great for that but a bit OTT for normal trotting reel - unless piking!

I think the SEA jecta 111 is the same as the big piker

The Jecta name is widely used by G&Y, and certainly the Jecta 3 would be OK for trotting. It's really just a bigger version of the Avon Crown, with a wider spool and deeper arbor. The SeaJecta and the Big Piker (plastic version of the SeaJecta) are a beefed up version of an Avon Royal supreme. Have a lookif you can at Whiteadders virtual fly fishing , where you will find an article on G&Y and there is a full 1950s brochure at the bottom, it's very useful.
