May I ask information about the turnable reel seat in picture 2? I'd guess that is quite useful?

Several years ago I bought a much earlier bakelite version of a piking centrepin, yet I still have to catch something on it. Perhaps I will use it in the coming season with my Whopper Stopper cane pike rod.

On closer inspection the "turnable part" is not part of the reel.

The reel being attached to the "turnable part" which in turn is attached to the rod's screw winch fitting.

They use to be available individually from the local tackle shop in my yoof!

I think it is called a Horton Evans ADAPTACAST,I keep a search going on e,bay for another one,Think I paid about £10 for that one,There are 2 sizes,I recon some of the clever people on here could make one in no time at all,I made one or two in the past,didn't look to good but worked

You could also try an Alvey sidecast, I presume you need the sidecast to get some distance?

Who else made/sold them?

As I distinctly remember them in my teens sold in my local tackle shop in the very early 60's. And an elderly angler using one on the tidal Thames when ledgering.
