Very good! The open design to allow maximum air drying of treated silk lines? Or just save on materials? Or both perhaps! Is that a little Sharpes/Farlows rod it's mounted on?

For drying purposes I am sure.
The rod is an Agutters Featherweight Midge 6’ 6”
I have not used the pairing yet, but the balance feels right.
