White Hall/ Normann/ Daiwa

Post by Pragmatic Piscator »

I’ve recently purchased a tiny reel with the markings ‘Normann No.29’ on it purely out of curiosity.
A bit of research and asking around has lead me to understand it is made by White Hall, whom I know nothing about, other than they were at some point bought out by Daiwa. There are pictures of reels identical to mine sporting the same name with Daiwa above it and others identical other than being named ‘Sussex’!

If anyone knows anything about White Hall, Daiwa’s acquisition of the company or the reels I mention, I would be delighted to hear about it!

I've seen many and owned a few of these reels but this is the first time I've seen the name "White Hall" connected with them . I have seen White Hall - Daiwa on a Daiwa 750; as the 750 was definitely a Daiwa mainstream reel of the early 1970s I would think that "White Hall" is possibly a Daiwa badged for another company rather than a sub brand or subsidiary of Daiwa. That said Daiwa did very few "badge" models for othe Co's.
