Carrying on from my previous post on Zephyr reels, this one is not quite the full monty but I'm quite happy with how its turned out.
It was a bit of a wreck to start with and very cheap, but when you are a learning curve, that's a good thing, isn't it?
This is what it looked like when I bought it,
The pin had been twisted in the brass backplate so the drum wouldn't fit, the aluminium plate was cracked in a couple of places and the wing nut was missing on the pin.
It was quite a steep learning curve, especially making a wing nut from scratch but I think it doesn't look too bad,
Not sure I will put it to serious use, as it is a bit cumbersome and I'm still on the lookout for a project Zephyr.

If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.

Fabulous
No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.

Lovely work there JW, I love old “ pins “ especially as display pieces , the problem arises when you have more pins than places .
